Chicago's Century of Progress World's Fair (Virtually) with Dennis McClendon

Details
Much is written and circulated about Chicago's 1893 world's fair, (also called the White City), but few seem to have parallel knowledge about the city's second world's fair.
While photos of both fairs make them seem very "black and white" the 1933-34 Century of Progress World's Fair in Chicago was really very vibrantly painted, as often depicted on postcards of the era.
The fair was also an eye-opening encounter with the future: mechanical men, electric eyes, “rocket” skyrides, advances in medicine, modern architecture, and abstract and allegorical art. There was plenty of fun, too, in the brightly colored pavilions and thrill rides stretching along the south lakefront, even though it ran for two summers in the darkest days of the Great Depression. Sign up to see plenty of photos, postcards, and even color film footage of Chicago's Century of Progress world's fair...bring your questions!
Our speaker will be Dennis McClendon, a Chicago Tour Guide Professionals Assn (CTPA) Certified Tour Guide (CTG), who is also a well known Chicago historian and geographer.
