What we’re about
Chicago Karma Thegsum Chöling (KTC) is a Tibetan Buddhist meditation center in Chicago, part of the Karma Kagyu lineage under the guidance of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa.
We meet every Sunday morning for practice, which usually includes traditional Tibetan Buddhist sadhanas along with meditation and a short Dharma talk. Newcomers are always welcome, with a short orientation and guided meditation basics available. In addition to weekly practice, we host special events and visiting Kagyu lineage teachers throughout the year.
Our center provides both cushions and chairs, tea and coffee breaks, and English translations for all practice materials. Whether you are new to Tibetan Buddhism or an experienced practitioner, you’ll find community here.

Traditional Tibetan Buddhist meditation & sadhana practice in Chicago. Open to first-timers and experienced practitioners. Join us Sundays at 9:30am at Chicago Karma Thegsum Chöling (KTC), 2100 S. Central Ave, Cicero, IL 60804.
If it’s your first visit, arrive by 9:15 AM for a short introduction. Each Sunday includes guided meditation, traditional practice, and a short Dharma talk.
At the heart of our tradition are sadhanas, which are special meditation practices that combine chanting, visualization, and prayer. Guided by a chant leader, these practices support participants in recognizing their innate awareness, compassion, and wisdom. All texts include English translations and pronunciation guides, and you are welcome to engage however you feel comfortable (chanting along, following in English, or simply sitting quietly). Our weekly program also includes meditation and short Dharma talks.
Chicago KTC is part of the Karma Kagyu lineage, under the guidance of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa and affiliated with Karma Triyana Dharmachakra in New York.
