This meeting will be a special interactive "study group" session of the Machine Learning Group. The topic is "Semi Supervised Learning Over Text" as presented by Dr. Tom Mitchell, Chair of the Machine Learning Department of Carnegie Mellon University. Please try to view the lecture ahead of time, it's free to view and includes downloadable slides. We'll discuss the lecture at the meeting, but won't show it again due to its length.

Topics covered in the presentation are "bag of words" Naive Bayes classification, an "EM step" enhancement to Naive Bayes, and finally co-training with redundantly predictive features.

Rob Reinhold, a long-time employee of Orbitz but new to Machine Learning, will be leading a discussion about the presentation and related topics. Think of this as time to share your thoughts and what you learned from the presentation, ask your peers questions about anything you had trouble with and - most importantly - enjoy free pizza and beer on a Wednesday.
