MLOps at 1871 - Fall Edition

Details
Join us in the celebration of one of Chicago's top four seasons! We're delighted to once again join forces with 1871, Why of AI, and our newest partner, the Chicago MLops community!
We are hosting two technical talks this meeting, each aligned with ML operations.
Talk 1: Evolution of MLOps at Grainger by Nathan Frank (Director, ML Ops & Platform @ Grainger)
In this talk Nathan will walk through the evolution of the MLOps Platform at Grainger, which has grown organically over the past 4 years. He will discuss their strategy for mixing open source and SaaS solutions, the business drivers behind their platform focus areas, and their coaching model for user support. Data, machine learning, and IT leaders will come away with a playbook to navigate the complicated MLOps tooling landscape and MLOps and platform engineers will get advice on navigating build vs buy decisions, platform maturity, and user support.
Talk 2: Faster MLops With r2u by Dirk Eddelbuettel (adjunct professor of statistics @ University of Illinois, R Foundation board member)
Dirk discusses a repository for data science and machine learning that provides all CRAN packages as Ubuntu binaries suitable for fully automated processing and training. He highlight key advantages for both robustness, as well as speed and ease of use, with examples.

Chicago ML is the community nexus of machine learning in the city. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from experts and meet like minded practitioners and learners. If you're looking to advance your ML skills, broaden your perspectives, or just meet some of the best people in the Chicago technology community, this is the perfect way to spend a fall evening downtown!
