Elgin - Alien From LA!

Details
Movies are ALWAYS good when their only selling point is that they star a supermodel, aren't they? Right, people?

OK, maybe not. Certainly not this one. Kathy Ireland stars in "Alien from LA," in which she, a stunningly annoying nerdy girl from LA follows her archaeologist father into the center of the Earth, where the locals describe her as "big-boned." I can only imagine they're being ironic, because at no time is her alluded relative density actually demonstrated, and because Golan Globus Productions are the kind of studio that would find funny to describe a supermodel with a euphemism for "fat." Trust me, in the '80s it was comic genius.
So, Kathy blunders around for a while before she's rescued by what can only be described as the Aussie Snake Plissken. To the movie's credit, he's actually pretty entertaining, but other than that, it's a dirty, obnoxious dystopian fantasy picture that makes the Super Mario Bros. movie look charming.
I'm harshing the movie a little too much; let me qualify all that: Alien From LA is one of my first episodes, and it only made me love the show that much more.
We'll be starting the movie at 2 PM, but someone from the group (me or Scott) will be in the bar downstairs at around noon. So come to the bar, have lunch with some of your fellow MSTies, then head on up to the private room to watch the movie! I charge $5 per person for equipment and room costs.
The Elgin Public House is at 219 Chicago Street in Elgin, just 2 miles from rt. 90 and 3 blocks from the Elgin Metra station (Milwaukee District/West line http://metrarail.com/content/metra/en/home/maps_schedules/metra_system_map/md-w/schedule.html ). All comers are welcome!
