Clunky Animatronics Theme Park Ride: THE MOVIE!
The Walt Disney Company wasn't always the all-devouring media conglomerate they are today. However, they WERE the all-devouring media conglomerate they are today in 2003 when they released this film adaptation of a dopey theme park ride and decided to bet the farm on the star power of Johnny Depp and a director whose previous effort was a kid's movie where Nathan Lane chases a mouse around like a Tom and Jerry cartoon and a horror movie whose tagline ought to have been "Not as good as the Japanese original but still pretty good," and wow are we being catty. Anyway, the bet paid off and this deleriously fun high seas adventure film set off an interminable slog of sequels concocted on the premise that everyone wants to watch pirates bicker over secret society protocols and bizarre Spanish-American mythology.
We may get to those, but let's start with the fun one!

We'll be at Mrs. Murphy and Sons Irish Bistro, with full bar and menu available to us, so come hungry! The bistro is on Lincoln Ave, near the intersection of Lincoln and Irving Park, a block from both the Irving Park + Damen/Lincoln and Damen + Byron bus stops, and a six minute walk from the Irving Park stop on the Blue Line. They have a small parking lot, and paid street parking is also available.

The event is free, with a humble request to pay what you can to support us, or to sign on to our Patreon, www.patreon.com/downinfrontlive, for as little as a dollar a month.

So we'll see you Down In Front for Pirates of the Caribbean on June 27th! Oh, and no talking during the movie; that's our job.
