Node.js Under Water by Ray Hightower
OpenROV (http://rayhightower.com/blog/2014/06/16/citizen-science-with-openrov/) is an underwater robot running Linux and Node.js. While larger Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) cost millions of dollars, the makers of OpenROV want to make underwater exploration more accessible; their unit costs less than a laptop. You may recall that a similar technology pattern played out in the shift from multi-million dollar mainframes to inexpensive PCs.
This talk will describe the internal workings of OpenROV, possible uses, and potential future. The Internet of Things (IoT) is happening now.
