About us
๐๐ผ This group is primarily for vegans, or those who are interested in learning about veganism and/or going vegan. The goal of this group is to build a community of vegans who meet up mostly in the NW suburbs.
Although event ideas are welcome, we'll mostly focus on the following:
- Eat vegan food ๐
--very few 100% vegan spots in the suburbs, so we'll go to vegan-friendly places - Be active ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
--e.g. casual hikes or jogs, but open to other activities - Play games ๐ฒ
--e.g. in-person or virtual game nights

*********Since the weather will be warm, we'll kick off our morning hikes followed by lunch! Join us for one or both activities. ๐
Hike (easy) & meeting location
We'll have a leisurely walk in Rock Cut State Park. Since this is >1hr away from the NW suburbs, consider using the Comments section to set up a carpool. Let's meet in the parking lot at Rock Cut State Park Concession (7223 West Lane Road, Loves Park, IL 61111), and plan to walk for about 1.5 hrs.Meeting time
Meeting time is 10:15am. We'll wait outside the Rock Cut State Park Concession building (7223 West Lane Road, Loves Park, IL 61111) until 10:30am, and then we'll start walking. If you get there after 10:30am, you might still be able to catch up with the group. Feel free to comment and maybe someone in the group can let you know where/how far we are.Lunch
After the walk, at around 12:00pm, we'll head over to Pig Minds at 4080 Steele Dr., Machesney Park, IL 61115. It's about a 15-minute drive to the restaurant from our meeting spot. This a 100% vegan place, so order whatever you want! Menu here. Pig Minds does not separate checks for parties of 6 or more, so please bring ๐ต cash so that it's a bit easier to pay at the end.10 attendees
