Center for Life and Learning is Fourth Presbyterian Church’s learning community for older adults. Skyline Village Chicago is a virtual community of older adults centered in the Near Northside.

Over 600 thousand Chicagoans out of a 2.9 million population are 55 and older. Society has a tendency to structure itself based on an assumption that everyone is young, thereby failing to respond appropriately to the real needs of older persons. This bias is called ageism.

Ageism operates alongside other systems of inequity and oppression––racism, classism, genderism and ableism. Aging equity requires justice across all areas of people’s lives—housing, education, healthcare, public transportation and social connectors.

We look to the Chicago mayor to dismantle ageist tendencies in all departments of city government, to commit to an innovative and forward-thinking approach to ensure that older Chicagoans are able to thrive in their neighborhoods and communities as they age.

Meet the candidates and hear their views in this important discussion.

PS. Not sure about the accuracy of the pictures. I just needed something showing some candidates.
