6/12 HAPPY LOVING DAY! Celebrate Diversity Safely With Family and Close Friends

Details
HAPPY LOVING DAY! Loving v. Virginia was a Supreme Court case that struck down state laws banning interracial marriage in the United States. The plaintiffs in the case were Richard and Mildred Loving, a white man and Black woman whose marriage was deemed illegal according to Virginia state law. On June 12, 1967, interracial marriage was legalized nationwide, and people were given the freedom to love and marry whomever they wished regardless of race or color. It was a major step in the civil rights movement.

Watch for a big party in Chicago next year, with the Biracial Family Network organization. We look forward to being together again, and extend extra love and support to our Black, Brown and Asian friends for whom the past year has been especially difficult. https://lovingday.org
