Things you should know:
Unplugged’s goal is to provide an open and welcoming space the day after Thotcon. The phrase “conference” is loosely applicable. There will be two scheduled talks, one in the morning one in the afternoon. The roundtables will be chaired by two people, one person new to the field and one person with tenure.

In between these talks, an open mic “unconference” will be held on the stage. Signups for this will take place at Thotcon, and through a submissions page that will open the week of Thotcon. To support those who have not spoken before, Unplugged has brought in Scott Whitehair as a speaking coach. Scott leads a significant portion of the story telling events in Chicagoland, and has coached a hundreds in developing their story telling voice onstage.

Overall, Unplugged wants to support and uplift Chicago’s information security community. The magic happens in the room where we gather, be it building relationships or technology, from casually interested to seasoned professional, all are welcome to participate in the conversation.

Talk requirements:
• Signups done in person or through signup link that will open the week of Thotcon
• Talks will be “conversation, not lecture” harkening back to the old B-Sides conferences
• Talks must follow the Code of Conduct without exception

The scheduled talks will be roundtable discussions
• Infosec Today - Conversations with the Pros
• Pentest Horror Stories

Fundraising component:
Previous similar events have always had a charitable fundraising component, and we will continue that tradition. The event will raise funds for a charitable organization during the day of the event. The charity selected this year will be Howard Brown Health. Howard Brown Health provides access to LGBTQIA+ affirming primary care, STI/STD testing, HIV/AIDS services, TGNC healthcare, and women's health services at clinics across Chicago regardless of a clients ability to pay.

Donation management is operating with the gracious support of Hak4Kidz, a 501c3. Donation receipts will be provided to every sponsor. Cash, check, paypal, credit card, and venmo are accepted.
