Why do certain ideas about food, animals, and “normal” behavior feel so unquestionable? Why do discussions about animal ethics so often get dismissed before they’re even heard?

Our next book, This Is Vegan Propaganda by Ed Winters, examines how cultural narratives, advertising, and social conditioning shape the way we think about animals and food, often without us realizing it.

We’ll explore how propaganda works, why some arguments feel persuasive even when they’re weak, and how ethical conversations get framed (or shut down) in everyday life. This will be an open, respectful discussion focused on critical thinking, media literacy, and moral reasoning.

You don’t need to be vegan, agree with the book, or even finish it to join. Anyone interested in ethics, culture, psychology, or how beliefs are formed is welcome. Please keep your RSVP up to date out of respect for other members who may want to attend, as well as for the restaurant reservation.
