What we’re about

Founded in 2007, this is a "Working Actors Only" group and more than a networking group. It's for on-camera actors in the Chicago market who are finding more work than their agents are giving them, and who know it takes determination and strength to actually make a career in this business.

This group is not for the consultant who wants to start acting, nor is it for the waiter who hasn't done a job in the last year. At this time we are also not accepting college students, or any actors, under the age of 21 as this is very much an adult group.

CAFM is for the movers and shakers who are making it happen not only for themselves but for the greater film community. We meet monthly to share goals, dreams, leads, good and bad experiences, great coaches, and amazing shoots, all while keeping a forward-thinking positive focus on all of our career paths. Some of our past events include "CAFM On Location: A Visit To Smash Virtual Production Studios!" "Your Film Actor Career Transitions: Types, Roles, And Changing Goals," "Knowing Your Film Actor Contracts: Union & Nonunion," and "The Thriving Artist: Self-Care, Mental & Physical Wellness For Film Actors." We also regularly host panel discussions with filmmakers, casting directors, union representatives, and other working actors so we stay connected with our industry.

Our group has a membership contribution of $60 annually, and that contribution goes to our operating budget and any stipends/travel expenses for potential guest speakers.

It's hard to find mentors in the world of acting, so this group offers a chance to connect with experienced actors who are co-mentoring each other. We'll work, we'll encourage, and together, we'll all grow!

Please answer the submission questions thoroughly when you apply to join. Our group has an automatic process of cleaning house of inactive members, so please know that this group requires some regular participation. We are actors, so we understand that life gets busy with bookings and classes, but we are proud of this policy and it is one of the reasons our group has thrived.
