Thanks for joining the Chicago Board Games Meetup!

The CBGM is dedicated to promoting play throughout the Chicago area. We run over 20 board game events each month around the city thanks to a great team of assistant organizers, and we're the largest group of our kind in Chicago. In terms of groups actively recruiting and developing its membership, we may very well be completely unique. Thank you for being a part of it.

While we play some old favorites in the group, we play many more games that you will probably not be familiar with. When you come to an event, in most cases you should be prepared to learn some new rules.

There are a few different types of events:

Party/Classic Games: These games tend to have easy rules and more social interactions. Think Taboo and Charades.

Strategic Games: These games tend to be more thought provoking. Rules tend to be more complex, and games less familiar. Come looking for a serious mental challenge.

Open Gaming: We play whatever people bring. If there is a game you'd like to play, the best bet is to bring it.

Where and when events occur is up to the assistant organizers. Most weeknight events will end around 9 or 10pm, with a few lasting a little longer. If timing is a concern, ask the organizer of the event.

If you don't have any game events in your area or on your schedule, let us know! Post in the Open Tables section on the message board, or contact the organizer. We'll do our best to get you some people to play with.

Your feedback is vital to the growth and success of this group. Tell us how we can make the group better in the feedback section of the message boards, in the feedback for game events you attend, or just email the organizer. We might not respond to all feedback, but believe me.... we read every piece.

Hope to play with you soon!
