Last year went so well, we're doing it again!!!
CHICAGO JEDI, along with EDGE Theatre (MacSith & Klingon Christmas Carol), and Princesscapades Princess Parties are proud to present Chicago's May The 4th Be With Chicago LED-saber Freeze Mob
See the Facebook event page as well: https://www.facebook.com/events/417159891986035/?active_tab=discussion
Join us in celebrating the day of May The 4th Be With the Chicago fans of Star Wars. Wear your favorite costume and come have fun battling with your saber or use the Force! You can also use light up "force power" gloves!
Event is BYOL (Bring your own light-up saber) and costumes are strongly encouraged! No light-up or LED-saber? No problem! Just use The Force!
~ Locations ~
There will be 3 "battles" staged across downtown Chicago.
First location:
The Agora Art Installation - Roosevelt & Michigan (right off the Redline). A fitting place with an interpretation of the piece being about crowds!
Second Location:
Museum Campus - Base of the steps that intersect Shedd and the Field Muesem.
Third Location:
Museum Campus - Near the Lake with the city as a back drop and then away we go!
~ The Battles ~
At each of the above locations, a frozen battle will take place! Light vs dark, good vs evil, every other color vs. red!
Participants will be split into 2 groups: Good Guys and Bad Guys.
At the signal, the Bad Guys ignite their sabers menacingly. Then the Good Guys will ignite theirs heroically. At the cry of "Fight!" the opposing sides will take a battle pose then freeze. DO NOT ACTUALLY HIT EACH OTHER WITH THE SABERS. Please obey all rules listed below.
After a count to 60, strike another pose. And then again. The last (4th) battle pose will be held for 2-3 minutes while the frozen battle is filmed for the mannequin challenge!
This will be repeated at each of the locations listed above.

~ Some tips ~
- Practice some poses beforehand so don't have to come up with them on the fly. Try to have 4-5 ready to go before you ride into battle!
- Practice your battle face in the mirror! We want to see some emotion! Bonus points if you post a selfie on your battle face here.
- Not everyone survives a fight! Dramatic deaths are always entertaining! Plan to die at the hand of your foe at least once.
- Choose your side! If you are not in costume, please wear a blue ribbon if you intend to fight for good, or a red ribbon if you’re feeling evil.
- Dress for the weather, Chicago weather changes constantly, so keep that in mind while planning your costume.
- Want to the real deal when it comes to sabers? EDGE Theatre and Princesscapades both recommend Ultra sabers for all your galactic space sword needs!
