Kubernetes-native Java with Quarkus [In-person and Virtual]

Details

The Red Hat User Group and Chicago Java Users Group are joining forces to welcome you in-person or online to an event on Quarkus and Java in downtown Chicago on July 28; doors open at 5pm.

If you plan to attend in person be sure to register here as space is limited!

Join us to learn how to use Quarkus to build Java microservices and run them in cloud platforms and Kubernetes clusters. As part of the Quarkus World Tour, Red Hat experts Daniel Oh and Jeff Beck will dive into the inner development loop with Quarkus and show how to deploy and run Java efficiently in Kubernetes. Attendees will discover new approaches for streamlining cloud-native Java development and operations, and leave inspired to try Quarkus for upcoming projects. Pizza will be served to in-person guests!

AGENDA

Session #1:
Title: Enhance Your Inner Development Loop
Speakers: Daniel Oh and Jeff Beck
Abstract: We’ll build a simple microservice to demonstrate how Quarkus brings developers joy with features like dev mode, a special “Dev UI” page, built-in backing services like databases and message brokers, and even a remote development mode.

Session #2:
Title: Run Your Code Effortlessly
Speaker: Daniel Oh and Jeff Beck
Abstract: We’ll build the microservice created previously and demonstrate how to deploy and run it in a serverless platform like AWS Lambda, Kubernetes Knative or Azure Functions. We’ll discuss the attributes of Quarkus and other Java frameworks that make them a fit (or not) for serverless platforms.
