Experience the vibrant sounds of Korea with Korean Music Fridays, an annual concert series that celebrates the richness and diversity of both traditional and contemporary Korean music. Presented by the Korean Performing Arts Institute of Chicago (KPAC), this series brings together master musicians, emerging artists, and cross-cultural collaborations for an unforgettable musical journey.
Each performance highlights a unique aspect of Korea’s musical heritage, from the dynamic rhythms of pungmul and samulnori (traditional folk drumming, also known as nongak or farmers’ music) to the expressive melodies of the gayageum (zither) and daegeum (transverse bamboo flute). Audiences will also experience the captivating storytelling of gugak (traditional Korean music) and folk songs, as well as innovative fusions that blend Korean sounds with global influences.
Whether you’re a longtime fan of Korean music or exploring it for the first time, Korean Music Fridays offers an inviting space to discover its depth and beauty.
Seating is first come.
