Woodstock, IL - Community Compassion
Details
Let’s come together for a day of spreading kindness in our community!!
Event Date/Time: Saturday March 21 at 12pm
Meeting/Donation Drop-off Location: Warp Corps - 114 N Benton St. Woodstock, IL
Before we begin, we will meet at Warp Corps (on the square) to collect donations and go over some general guidelines for the community compassion event.
Together, those who are comfortable/able will walk around the Woodstock square handing out flowers and cards with positive affirmations, with the intention of spreading kindness and compassion to others.
For the kids attending and/or for those who are not comfortable/able to hand out flowers and positive affirmations, there will be coloring pages and supplies available at Warp Corps for you to enjoy!
For those who are able, you are encouraged to bring a donation of non-perishable food items or hygiene items for Warp Corps, a non-profit in Woodstock that focuses on mental health and combating substance use disorder and homelessness through positive engagement in music, art, and action sports. Donations will be collected at the start of the compassion event.
Warp Corps Donation Requests:
- toothbrushes/toothpaste
- shampoo/conditioner/body wash
- pads/tampons
- lip balm/lotion
- cold weather gear/hand-warmers
- non-perishable food (especially ready to eat items/snacks)
- bottled beverages (water, Gatorade, etc.)
Please plan to dress according to the weather if you would like to assist in handing out flowers and positive affirmation cards around the square!
As a gentle reminder, this is a community event open to all ages. We ask that you treat each person involved with kindness and respect.
Also, not everyone may be open to receiving the compassion we are seeking to spread, and that’s okay! Meet people where they are at, and please do not try to force kindness upon anyone who is not willing to receive it.
This event is being made possible through Warp Corps, who has generously teamed up with me as the host of this event meant to spread kindness in our community, and Finch, a habit tracking and self-care app, whose compassion captain volunteer program has provided me the supplies and support to make events like these happen!
