The Safekeep is the 2024 debut novel from Dutch author Yael van der Wouden, set in 1961 Netherlands, that explores themes of desire, obsession, and the lingering trauma of WWII through the relationship between two women, Isabel and Eva, who are forced to live together in a secluded country house.
