Happy Hour Hike - Joder Ranch

Details

Let's enjoy a mellow hike, some snacks/refreshing beverages, and a sweeping view of Boulder and Longmont!

Joder Ranch is one of my favorite easy, close hikes, especially if you approach it from the Olde Stage Road side. It'll take us about half an hour to get to the top of a ridge where we can admire the view and celebrate with some goodies! After we hang out for a while, we can head back in time to enjoy whatever you have in store for Saturday night.

I will be bringing a snack to share and a can/bottle of something, and I encourage you to do the same! An easily packable chair would be a good idea, too; the Crazy Creek style would be particularly handy just in case there aren't enough boulders or logs to go around.

How to find us: The downside to starting from the Olde Stage side (which, I think, is the much better route) is that there isn't a great parking option. Never fear, though - there's a large dirt parking area about two minutes from the trailhead! Find it by heading to Buckingham Park, which you'll see on your right if you're coming up Lefthand Canyon from 36, as I imagine most of you will be. Just beyond the park (like maybe three seconds), you'll see Olde Stage Road branch off to the left. There's a dirt parking lot right at the corner where we'll be waiting for you! (Link to map is below.)

Note that this is a great hike for dogs; the trail is designated off-leash if you have Voice and Sight tags. Depending on how hot it is, I will likely bring one or both of mine. They are friendly and easy-going, so feel free to come with a four-legged date! There is no water, for them, though, and some very sunny sections, so plan accordingly.
