What we’re about

🌿 Welcome to The Childhood Nature Project Meetup Group 🌿

We believe that childhood thrives in nature—and so do communities. The Childhood Nature Project began in 2010 (originally known as Buzzy Kids Playdates) as a grassroots effort to bring families together through outdoor play. What started with a few families from the toddler program at the Miami Beach Regional Library blossomed into a vibrant movement for nature-based education across Miami.

As more families joined, our first official program was born: IMAGINA – A Parent and Child Institute, launched in 2013 with six families at Enchanted Forest Elaine Gordon Park. By 2015, with children growing and curiosity deepening, we created Adventures in the Forest—South Florida’s first Forest Kindergarten. Supported by a Small Community Grant from The Children’s Trust, this program helped spark a nature-based education movement in Miami-Dade.

🌱 What This Group Is About
This Meetup group is a welcoming space for anyone who wants to:
•            Build meaningful connections with other families
•            Reconnect with nature through playful, outdoor experiences
•            Discover and share nature-based activities across Miami

Whether you're part of our programs or simply looking for a way to spend more time outdoors with your child, you're invited to join us.

🤝 How It Works
•            Events are hosted by parents in our community or coordinated by our organization.
•            Some gatherings are free or low-cost; others may require approval or registration.
•            If you’d like to host an event or help welcome families, we’d love to support you! Hosts help confirm attendance and create a warm, inclusive experience.
