Hosted By

Details
A FREE walk offering stunning views across Oxfordshire and around the Chiltern Hills area but with a difference - an opportunity to learn about the flora found on the walk and on Aston Rowant National Nature Reserve.
- No experts on the walk but we shall have fun trying to find and identify flora and anything else we find on the walk.
Starting from the Cowleaze Wood Car Park we head down to join the Ridgeway and then ascend to the Aston Rowant Reserve, which also boasts plants and butterflies of the chalk grassland including seven species of orchids and the silver-spotted skipper and the Adonis Blue butterflies. Various bird species can also be sighted here - red kites, finches, green woodpeckers, wheatears etc.
After exiting the Reserve we head towards Lower Vicars Farm and back to the car park.
This is a moderate walk (approx 4miles total ascent 640ft) but with some hilly sections as expected in the Chiltern Hills!!!
We shall have a short lunch break so pls. bring packed lunch, snacks and water.
