Whiteleaf, Coombe Hill, Wendover & Aylesbury – Long or Medium Hike

Walk length 15miles/24km approx. Linear.

A very scenic hike from Princes Risborough to Aylesbury via Whiteleaf Hill & Coombe Hill towards Wendover and then the Wendover arm of the Grand Union Canal and the Grand Union Canal at Aylesbury.

We will probably have lunch at Wendover close to toilets, coffee shops etc..

There is the option of taking the train back from Wendover to London should you wish to leave at the lunch stop approx 9miles/15km into the walk.

THIS IS A LONG HIKE WITH A MIXTURE OF UNDULATING LANDSCAPE WITH SOME FLAT SECTIONS CLOSE TO THE CANAL.

Lunch and Finish

Please bring a packed lunch and water for the walk. The walk should finish at 5.00pm and includes a pack lunch stop and optional pub stop at the end, however the time may be earlier or later than this depending on the weather and pace.

Meet outside Princes Risborough train station from for the walk to start at 10.22am (after the train from London arrives).

By car: You will need to leave your car at either Aylesbury or Princes Risborough and collect either at the beginning or end of the walk.
By train from London: The London Marylebone train at 9.37am gets to Princes Risborough for 10.22am.

This is a linear hike and you need to get a return train ticket to Aylesbury but get off at Princes Risborough and then use your return ticket back from Aylesbury. You could also return from Wendover if you want to do just a part of the walk.

I would encourage you to seek out other members who can go as part of a group save on the train and meet from 9.00am to give you time to get tickets.

I would suggest you meet outside the WHSmith shop at Marylebone to give you time to get a group save/buy tickets you may have to queue (see photo below). See National Rail Enquiries (http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/)
