Faversham to Whitstable Bay, Carnival & Swim – Coastal Hike

10miles/16km approx/Linear

A great coastal hike exploring the coastal path from Faversham to Whitstable passing the Nagden, Cleve and Graveney Marshes with sea views across Whitstable Bay. The hike largely follows the Saxon Shore Way.

Lunch and Finish

Please bring a packed lunch and water for the hike. The hike should finish at 4.30pm but may be earlier or later than this depending on pace and weather and includes a pack lunch stop and pub stop at the end and maybe a cheeky swim (please be aware this is a complete day out and you are advised not to have definite evening plans).

The pub at the end at Whitstable is classy but very reasonably priced and does food and close to the station. The pub used to be an old cinema and has an Art Deco feel, named after a famous actor Peter Cushing who had connections to the area.

On this day there is also a carnival being hosted by the town in the afternoon as a tribute to Peter Cushing which we may get a chance to enjoy!

Meeting

Outside Faversham station for the hike to start just after the train from London arrives at 10.50am.

If you are driving you will need to get the train back to Faversham to collect your car from Whitstable. Station car park is £3.90 Saturday, other free roadside parking may be available (please check for restrictions).

Meeting at London

The 9.40am train from London Victoria gets to Faversham for 10.50am.
This is a linear walk so you need to get a return to Whitstable but get off at Faversham. You will return from Whitstable.

THIS IS A MEDIUM LENGTH HIKE AND LARGELY FLAT.

The meeting point is an official meeting point symbol directly opposite the Upper Crust shop & the Gatwick Express entrance close to platform 13 & 14. Meeting from 9.00am to give us time to get tickets (see photo below).

Meeting at London
