Walk length 14miles/23km approx or 9miles/15km. Circular.

A varied circular hike from Maidenhead to Cookham Moor and Bourne End with panoramic views across the river valley from Winter Hill and sections of the Thames path.

We will have snack picnic lunch on Cock Marsh close to Bourne End which has a rail station (you would need to get a single to Maidenhead for the mainline) if you want to return approx. halfway along the walk.

Cock Marsh is also very close to the Bounty Pub on the Thames for any refreshments.

Some of the woodland areas may display spring bluebells.

Please bring water and snack lunch for the walk. The walk should finish at about 4.30pm, however the time may be earlier or later than this depending on the weather and pace.

THE HIKE IS LARGELY FLAT BUT DOES HAVE SOME CONSIDERABLE HILL CLIMBS SUCH AS WINTER HILL.

Meeting & Transport

Meet outside Maidenhead train station for the walk to start at 10.30am (after the train from London arrives).

The 9.44am from London Paddington gets to Maidenhead for 10.30am. Maidenhead is also on the Elizabeth line.

If coming from London you could meet opposite the WHSmith at London Paddington from 9.15am (to give you time to get tickets) if you want to get groups saves, see photo below (the organizer is not coming by train for this hike).

Train cost £18.00 return but could be reduced with a group save or national railcard discount.

Car: Maidenhead station charges for parking but some side roads are free on a Sunday (please check before parking and leave enough time to park).
