Yorkshire Dales: Highest peak, waterfalls and classic dales countryside
Details
This lakes trip is for the guided walks only, you will need to make your own accommodation reservations in or near to Hawes, I recommend booking with free cancellation and I will organise and lead the walks and book restaurants for the evening meals. The group size will be limited to no more than 20 people (plus guide and back marker), so it still has an intimate feel. The cost of walks only is £125. The advantage of this type of trip is that you choose a cost and comfort level that is appropriate for your budget and still get the walks and socialising aspect of my other trips
For dinner you can either make your own arrangements or asked to be included on the group booking at the hotel or one of the restaurants a short drive away in Hawes.
Itinerary: All the walks require you to drive to the start point, but they are all under 30 minutes drive and the drive is a good way to see some of the surrounding area. The itinerary is subject to change as the day each walk is undertaken will depend upon the best weather conditions.
Day 1: Hawes and Hardraw Force waterfall (meet at 2pm)
This walk is a relaxing and pleasant introduction to Wensleydale and an opportunity to stretch the legs after a long journey and prior to checking in at the accommodation. The highlight is a visit to Hardraw Force (admission fee applies) the highest single fall in the Dales. Parking charges apply in Hawes.
4 miles approximately 2 hours.
Day 2
Whernside 736m approx 10 miles and 5 hours:
Whernside is the highest of the three peaks and the easiest ascent. The walk itself starts by the stunning Ribblehead viaduct and follows the beautiful bubbling Winterscales becks just the right length for a good challenge and is through beautiful countryside; the paths are well constructed and the summit views befit the largest mountain in the area.
Day 3
Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle 6 miles 3-4 hours
This is a delightful and easy walking circuit from Aysgarth to the village of Castle Bolton. The walk has time to stop and enjoy the spectacular Aysgarth falls and the dominating presence of Bolton Castle.
Day 4
Kidson and Muker approx 8 miles and 4.5 hours.
Linking two of Upper Swaledale's delightful villages, this walk, despite its length, is easy and most agreeable. With the river Swale as a near constant companion, the route explores one of the most outstanding regions of the Dales. This is walk of magnificent views and great variety embracing riverside meadows, hills, woods, waterfalls and a taste of the Pennine Way long distance trail.
Payment
The cost is £125 for all 4 walks and is due on signing up. If you cancel a refund will only be made if I'm able to resell your place.
