Two walks from the same location today, giving you a choice of either walk or combining them for a full day of walking. A relaxed afternoon circular walk taking in the highest stretch of the Grand Union Canal, a gentle walk to end the weekend.
We begin by heading downhill into the valley, reaching the canal at Cow Roast. This section of towpath marks the canal’s summit between London and Birmingham. At Tring Station, we leave the canal behind and begin a gradual ascent. Our route joins The Ridgeway, Britain’s oldest road, with wide open views stretching back towards Ivinghoe Beacon, the end point of the trail. We return to Wigginton, where there's an optional pub stop to finish the weekend.
🐾 Dogs on leads welcome
Starting point: Wigginton playing fields car park, additional parking on the road (not the nearby The Greyhound Pub)
