An 11.5-mile circular walk exploring the countryside around Marlow, Medmenham and Hambleden. Starting off relatively flat, but with enough hills in the afternoon to raise the heart rate!

Departing Marlow, we will walk past the giant Steve Redgrave statue and join the Thames, heading west towards Temple Lock. At this point, we leave the river, passing Harleyford Golf Club, where there are plenty of wild animals - although admittedly most of them are made of wood.

We will pass beneath the front lawn of Danesfield House and briefly meet the river again. Passing through Medmenham and skirting around Mill End, we will eventually arrive in Hambleden, where we will pause for lunch after approximately 6.5 miles. There should be the opportunity for a well-earned drink at the Stag & Huntsman pub, with a café also available nearby.

Do not let the relative ease of the morning lull you into a false sense of security: immediately after departing Hambleden, it is up our first real hill of the day. We will pass through Homefield Wood and continue towards Marlow Common.

We will then return to our starting point in Marlow, where there will be the opportunity for another beverage in one of Marlow’s many pubs before heading home.
