3D Thursdays: Getting Started with Blender

Details
This week we will finally talk about Blender, the free opensource 3d graphics marvel.
If you want to:
Modify existing models
Make your own models
Clean up noisy scans
Combine small parts, or divide up big ones.
Fix non-manifold meshes
And just about anything else you can imagine in the 3d graphics world
Blender will do it all. It is the Swiss Army knife of the 3d graphics world. Not always the best tool, but the one you always have in your pocket.
You could also use it to make your own Star Wars sequel where Jar-Jar Binks comes to a sticky end, but we won't get that far into it.
Blender is free and cross platform so you can download it and come prepared for class with you laptop, or just come to watch and hang out. I'll show some simple intro stuff to get you oriented and then take questions and give specific help on whatever people are interested in.
As always bring your 3d prints and projects to share. Bring your triumphs for our admiration, bring your fails for our commiseration (and help if you like).
If you have an interest in a special area of 3d printing we would love to hear about it. Post a comment and we will put something together.
