How would you describe your level of Chinese? (Eg it's my native language OR I don't speak it OR I learned some dialect from my family but little Mandarin, OR I can speak a few words, simple conversations, etc.)

My Chinese is definitely not anywhere near as good as it once was but still enough to maintain fairly complex conversations.

What kind of events and activities would you be interested in? What would you like to do at our events?

I want to continue learning Mandarin and opportunities to practice!

Where did you grow up? How did you learn Chinese? Tell us your story.

I grew up in Rockville, Maryland. I first started learning Chinese when I recieved a scholarship for a masters program at Shanghai University of Sport. After studying there for a year and a half I returned to the states in search for work. The way I learned Chinese was by going out into the streets and interacting and making lots of chinese friends. I found this method was much more effective then others who decided to spend all day studying their textbooks in their rooms.

What could this group provide for you that no other Meetup could?

The chance to meet with people and improve my mandarin!

What are your favorite Chinese dishes and foods?

Dumplings, gong bao ji ding and yu xiang rou si are all some of my favorite chinese foods.

I'm a 23 year old University of Maryland Graduate. After graduating I studied for a year and half in Shanghai. I fell in love with the language and the culture and want to continue studying.
