Birding Okaloosa Holding Ponds and the Wright Landfill

Saturday Morning Field Trip – February 15, 2025
Join us for an exciting morning of birding at the Okaloosa Holding Ponds and the Wright Landfill. Led by Jim Anderton (850-543-2221), we’ll meet at 7:30 AM along the west edge of Roberts Road, just 200 feet northeast of Task Force Pizza Company, in the electric station parking area.
We’ll be on the lookout for a variety of winter residents, including shorebirds, waterfowl, raptors, and the star attractions—two Vermilion Flycatchers that have been spotted this season!
Dress for the weather with long pants, sturdy closed-toe shoes, and a hat. Don’t forget water, binoculars, and a spotting scope if you have one. This is a great outing for birders of all experience levels—come enjoy the fun and see what we can find together!
