2pm - 5pm Melrose to Urban Lights (The Big Walk) Focus on Composition & Context
This is going to be a 5 mile walk, so do keep that in mind. Please do not RSVP if walking 5 miles in an afternoon is a problem for you.
We’ll meet up at the entrance to the Melrose Trading Post (located at Fairfax High School). From there we’ll walk down Fairfax to the Urban Light Installation.
Meetup at the entrance to the Melrose Trading Post at 2pm SHARP. We'll start with a 15 minute discussion, per usual. This shoot contains a handful of locations and I'll be handing out cards with the routes and destinations on them.
THE AGENDA:
- Start at Melrose Trading Post (Corner of Melrose and Fairfax) - Note that the Trading Post is closed on Saturdays.
- Travel down Fairfax towards Original LA Farmer's Market and into the Grove
- Back down Fairfax towards the Urban Light installation
- Work east on Wilshire until we reach La Brea
- North on La Brea (where we can find snacks or stop for a meal) until Melrose
- Turn west on Melrose until we return to our starting point.
A FEW NOTES:
This is going to be a fair bit of walking, though not much more than what we normally do with the Ambulant Photographer walks. Be advised that we'll be covering 5 miles from our start point to our end destination, with 3-4 locations to move around in.
TECHNICAL NOTE:
I will be carrying my normal 35mm and 50mm lenses that I do most of my work with, but I will also have an ULTRA-WIDE lens with me in order to get very dramatic images of the Urban Light installation. Be sure to bring a nice wide lens with you if you want to do the same.
