6:15 PM - KICK OFF
Welcome to the Christchurch Game Developers Meetup, with news from around New Zealand!
6:30 PM - Leadership and Team Collaboration in Agile GameDev Panel
In the beautiful creativity, chaos, and change that is game development:
- Why is communication so hard? What can be done to improve it?
- How do you keep everyone aligned and moving forward together?
- How do you resolve conflict constructively?
- What are common mistakes and opportunities teams have with agile?
- What does good leadership look like? How do you cultivate it?
Whether you are a professional, hobbyist, or a student, if you have ever had to wrestle with these questions (and you probably will!), then you know they can be difficult to answer. However, learning how to foster effective team collaboration and leadership is not just important to success in game development, they are essential people skills in all sorts of situations. So, please come and listen to a panel of experienced agile game development leadership and organizational coaches who will share their expertise and wisdom on these questions and yours.
Speakers on the panel include:
Jaques Smit
Jaques is production manager at Pikpok, an agile coach at Mindforge (a leadership development group), and an Epic Fantasy author. Jaques works with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Product Managers, Agile Coaches and Executives who work in organizations that care about a sustainable and adaptable path to success. His vision is that every person working in a team feels valuable, empowered and purposeful! He especially loves working with New Leaders and Managers, helping them make sense of their role while they learn the basics of leadership.
Anton Rademan

He has coached individuals and teams to maximize their potential across various industries, including Fintech, Gaming, Automotive, Aviation, Transport, Steel, and Mining, and worked with clients across multiple regions including APAC, Asia, Africa, UK, Europe, and South America. He has a proven track record of effectively supporting teams to form and achieve high performance.
Brendan Marsh
Brendan is a passionate product leader with 13 years of experience sustainably building valuable products that are aligned to strategy, bring value to the business and that customers love. He is deeply driven by the human aspect of product which guides his approach. Whether it’s telling stories to inspire people behind a product strategy, delving into user research to understand customer needs or empowering product managers to unlock their potential, all roads lead back to people. Brendan has worked with Spotify and studios such as MightyKingdom and VHS Lab. He is currently an agile, organizational, and product advisor at Organa - an Australian boutique consulting firm who run an agile game producer course for game studios.
