Voices of Aotearoa - Earthquakes, Butterflies & Water

Kathleen will read from and discuss her most recent
work “Earthquakes & Butterflies Otautahi Christchurch”
and the film she is working on with Gaylene Barnes
following the “Seven Rivers Seven Weeks” pilgrimage.

These works are to do with healing of ourselves and
the healing of our environment, and how these healings walk hand in hand as we negotiate a way forward – a way through.

This series aims to encourage and support participants in their own creativity and artistic and spiritual journeys, as we provide an opportunity for discussion about the interface between
the arts and spirituality.

What does it mean to write, to produce works of art and music in this land?

Who are the creative voices shaping our spirituality as we live in Aotearoa New Zealand?

Kathleen Gallagher is a poet, playwright and filmmaker. She received the NZ Playwrights Award in 1993, and the Sonja Davies Peace Award in 2004 for the film Tau Te Mauri Breath Of Peace. Kathleen has authored 3 books of poetry, 16 plays, 6 feature films and 4 books. Her films Earth Whisperers/ Papatuanuku, Water Whisperers /Tangaroa and Sky Whisperers /Ranginui have screened in cinema throughout New Zealand, on television, and in Film Festivals around the world. Her film Hautu NZ Peace People of WWII premiered in September 2016.

Kathleen’s first novel “Earthquakes & Butterflies” was published in 2015.

Cost: $10.00 per person
