Mud Sweat & Tears = Great Photojournalism Photography

Details
Last year a group of us went to chronicle this event with great success.
This year I want to repeat it but give some of you a great chance to learn how to "Get amongst it" as your subjects get down and dirty.

I'm an experienced pj photographer & whilst some of you may wish to record the event in your own style, & on your own, (hence there being no waitlist), a few of you may like to give it a shot at photographing an event such as this with me there with you to give you pointers on angles, framing, camera settings etc.
This event is held wet or fine but protection from the elements for you and your camera is advisable.
Camera equipment:
Preferably a DSLR & lens. A 100mm zoom lens is more than adequate & remember to use a skylight filter to protect the lens.
A memory card/stick with enough to take about 100+ photos on the largest setting.
A plastic bag large enough to encase the camera body with a hole cut to poke the lens through.
DON'T use a tripod. You need to be mobile & a tripod is too cumbersome at an event like this.
Personal clothing:
YOU WILL GET SPLATTERED IN MUD. Dress accordingly.
A good pair of gumboots & warm socks. You may have to stand in large puddles.
A warm hat/beanie & a warm jacket with secure pockets.
Be prepared to have cold hands. Fingerless gloves are a good option.
If you have waterproof trousers it"d be a good idea to wear them.
A change of shoes & socks & a towel left in your car for when you've finished.
The first race starts at 11:00 am & I'll be at the start line at about 10:30, (look for the guy in the green I.T.M. beanie & red lumberjack jacket).
