What we’re about
We're all on a journey and sometimes it takes more than a beer and a boarding pass to get us there.
Christian Backpackers seeks to:
- be a network for Christian travellers to meet both travellers and locals.
- be a place where those interested can explore faith
- encourage the Church as a whole to consider if/how faith connects to travel.
All future, current and past backpackers/travellers - Christians and otherwise - are welcome.

WARBURTON TRAIL WALK & LUNCH
— Please read full event details below —
Everyone is welcome to join this Christian Backpackers Meetup hike in the Yarra Ranges.
The Warburton Trail is a lovely bushwalk through the Yarra Ranges that runs along the former Warburton Railway Line which opened in 1901 and ferried fresh produced from the Yarra Valley to Melbourne.
We'll do the 12km section from Wandin North to Woori Yallock.
We'll start at the Wandin North start of the trail and follow it for about 4km until we reach the Carriagee Cafe - a locally famous cafe featuring a carriage that was constructed over 100 years ago. The Cafe is located on the trail just before the old Seville Station.
We'll have some brunch and activities at the Cafe before going on for a further 8k until we reach Worri Yallock Station. (from there, we will walk back up to Warburton Hwy (approx 500m) where we will be able to catch a bus back to Wandin for those driving to Wandin or Lilydale for those catching public transport.
For much of the early part of the walk, the trail meanders through bushland and two creeks (first the Wild Cattle Creek and then the Wandin Yallock Creek). Enjoy the relaxing sound of the bellbird.
After we pass through Killara (approx 8km in), the trail opens out and the creek/bellbird/bushland are replaced by cattle, farmland and great views out toward Mt Donna Buang.
Although reasonably long, the hike is quite an easy grade and the track is mostly flat.
