About us

Hi everyone, I'm Jen! I’m really happy to be coming back to help out with hosting after a few months away, and I look forward to hearing your stories and getting to know you on the Zoom calls :) These hang outs are a place for people to share their experiences of living with disability and chronic illness. Often our health situation is invisible and therefore poorly understood by the able bodied, and can also be difficult to live with and seek treatment for. To speak to those going through similar challenges has been a wonderful thing for me, and I hope it will be for you too :) We don't just talk about disability though-it's a social group, so we talk about life generally, and things that bring us joy and hope.

I set up this group during lockdown to help with feelings of isolation. I was literally stuck indoors for two years, but I also desperately wanted to talk to people who know what it’s like to live with health issues. I’ve been dealing with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome for the past 6 years, which essentially means my body thinks it’s allergic to everything. In typical chronic illness fashion I don’t just have the one-I haven’t figured out quite how many yet, but EDS and unspecified autoimmune issues are also on the cards!

So that's a bit about me! Hope to see you on Zoom x
