Chronically Iconic Club (Chronic Illness/Pain Support) - 1st Monthly Meeting

Details

Hi Icon,

You are invited to Join us for our 1st virtual peer-led support group of the month.

CIC hosts two virtual, peer-led support groups per month focusing on connecting and community building through the sharing of our experiences. Groups are hosted the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 6pm-7:15pm PT/ 9pm -10:15pm ET.

What to expect:

  • Regular check-ins and sharing of experiences and emotions (we honor all feelings including grief, anger, fear, hope, and joy)
  • A place to gather support, feedback and resources from other ICONS
  • An opportunity to build connections with people who GET IT.
  • The offering of light mindfulness, embodiment, or creative exercises (e.g. journaling) to support grounding and introspection in group
  • Occasional guest speakers (Icon Member Spotlights!). If you are interested in presenting on a subject you’re passionate about, sharing your story, or hosting a workshop in an upcoming group, please let us know!
  • Note: We always aim to tailor group to whatever our CIC community finds the most beneficial in the moment. Sometimes that might be just a laid-back hangout session, and our offerings will continue to evolve based on the needs of the group.

What to bring- Just your iconic magical self. Come as you are.
Participate as much or as little as feels supportive to you.
We are here to build community and support you on your journey with chronic illness/pain.

Where: Our virtual hang will take place via Zoom. Don't forget to RSVP. Members from any location are invited to join.

> passcode: cic

Our Community Guidelines
Chronically Iconic Club (CIC) was built to offer a safe space for EVERYONE regardless of their illness(es) and or disability, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion etc. All CIC members must agree to the following group guidelines in order to ensure the emotional, physical, and psychological safety of our members:

  1. Confidentiality - What happens in group stays in group. This also means no taking (or posting) of photos, or sharing the identities of other group members externally.
  2. No hate speech, intolerance, or disrespect for other peoples’ experiences or identities, period.
  3. Speak your truth in ways that respects other people’s truth - We’re here to hold space for each other and help each other feel seen and heard. Though our views or reality may sometimes differ, it is vital that we do not interrupt or debate other members.
  4. Do not offer unsolicited advice (as ICONS, many of us get enough of that already!) - Instead, ask "what can I do to support you right now?" or "would you like advice, feedback, or just listening from me?"
  5. It’s ok to have fun! Talking about our illnesses doesn't always have to be serious and heavy.
  6. You always have a choice - You are welcome to participate as much or as little as feels good to you in any discussion or activity. Always listen to your body and your nervous system, and make modifications accordingly! ***There is only one exception to this: If this is your first time in group, you may be asked to introduce yourself on camera. Unfortunately, we have had a few instances of Zoom bombers, so this helps us ensure you are who you say you are.

Accessibility is one of our core values. If there is anything we can do to make group more accessible and/or safe for you, let us know.

Disclaimer: Chronically Iconic Club (CIC) provides peer-led support groups. We offer compassion, community support, & space holding. CIC is not therapy, does not substitute for therapy, and does not prevent, cure, or treat any mental disorder or medical disease. If you need immediate medical attention or crisis support, please call 9-1-1 or 9-8-8 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
