About us

The Church of the East & West is a weekly, online interfaith gathering created for a world that is deeply connected—and deeply divided.

Across history, cultures, and continents, human beings have turned to sacred texts to make sense of suffering, meaning, love, justice, and unity. Yet too often, these traditions are used to separate rather than connect.

This church exists to do something more difficult.

Each week, people from different backgrounds come together online to explore sacred and wisdom texts from Eastern and Western traditions: Buddhism, Christianity, Catholic mysticism, Hinduism, Judaism, Islam, Taoism, philosophy, poetry, and more.

We do not blend traditions, rank them, or ask participants to agree. Instead, we place them side by side and practice listening, curiously exploring together, and encouraging participants to share what inspires them in their unique culture.

No belief is required to participate.
No conversion is discussed.
No authority claims the final word.

Each gathering follows a shared rhythm: context, reading, sharing, and open reflection. Different members introduce texts that have shaped them personally—not as teachers or experts, but as fellow human beings offering wisdom for collective reflection.

The Church of the East & West is built on a simple conviction echoed across traditions: that division is not healed by winning arguments, but by cultivating the capacity to remain whole in the presence of difference.

This space is designed for believers, doubters, seekers, scholars, and anyone who feels spiritually curious.

We meet online to ensure accessibility across geography, ability, and life circumstance. Participation is free; donations are optional and support the care and continuity of the space.

In a time when division is rewarded and amplified, the Church of the East & West offers a different practice: learning how to listen across traditions, and remember what we share without erasing what makes us distinct.

We encourage members to share a text or something that inspires them that week within the group. We encourage open discussion and self-expression.
