Serenity Jam

I used to think I could find serenity with a cold draft beer in my hand. No matter what I wore, styled my hair, it only changed my physical appearance. Trying to convince myself and to people that I was a victim, was a lie they could see through like the cartoonish picture I displayed in front of them. I thought I had them fooled, when everyone else could see my hypocrisy of “Do as I say, not as I do.”

Until the day came that I didn’t need the beer drinking bar scene crutch, serenity was just but a false hope. A lie to myself, to those I professed I loved and to everyone I associated with. The flowery words had to be planted to build healthy roots.

Today, I have the freedom from wanting to having a beer in order to “relax and enjoy myself.” The “I deserve this, Look what they made me do, I can stop/go without whenever…. It’s only,” had to diminish.
