Scenario Background
Professor Joshua Thomas is well-known as a brilliant archeologist whose work has been critical in broadening our understanding of the ancient world. His research into the esoteric practices of many cultures has thrown light on ancient beliefs, making him an authority on the occult.
Now retired, other than some part-time work at Miskatonic University, Thomas has become something of a socialite. He happily lends his expertise to those who visit his vacation cabin, situated just an hour or so out of Arkham. Over the years, he's become a friend rival, or mentor to many.
Our story begins one bright morning in late September, just as your car crests over a ridge on the hilly drive up to Thomas's cabin. When you arrive, you intend to catch up with the professor, compare notes, and perhaps share a discreet glass of whiskey.
