Otter and Beaver Viewing at two wetland hikes—Beavercreek area

Details

Otters were spotted recently at the Siebenthaler Fen, which is a great comeback for Ohio, because otters had disappeared from the state for many years. In recent years, they have made a comeback, and they have been seen at the fen. The fen is an excellent place to view aquatic wildlife and birds. Mink are regulars as well. It is only a 1 mile walk on boardwalk with an option to climb up to the viewing platform. We will walk this loop and enjoy the scenery, then drive over around the corner to the Koogler Wetlands. The wetland trail is a mixture of dirt and boardwalk, and it too has a wide variety of wildlife. I have seen signs of beavers there many times—including finding a beaver tooth!

Both trails offer a chance to see a different side of nature, and I have enjoyed them many times over the years. After these two trails, if anyone wants to continue on to any of the other wetland locations in Beavercreek, we can come up with a plan. I lived in this area for over 20 years, and there is a lot to see.
