Poetry Workshop - Online
Details
Time/Location Changed because of COVID-19
For each meetup, we will workshop poems written by each attendee. You can bring any poem of yours to share. See more FAQs below.
This Meeting's Prompt: Write a poem about a time in your life when you felt brave (from Audrey Gidman). You are welcome to use the prompt but it isn't required. All skill levels are welcome! If you are able, we will share the poems through the screen share of Zoom, as it will be easier for the group to provide you feedback.
Workshop purpose and agenda: Cincinnati East Poetry Group shares our own poetry in an inclusive and supportive environment. We listen and offer constructive feedback after the poet has read their work.
Cincinnati East Poetry Meetup does not charge authors fees of any kind and does not solicit payments by email. All official communication comes directly from this Meetup page. If you ever receive a message that seems unusual, please reach out here to confirm.
Note on Meeting Days: We meet on the last Wednesday of the month. Please RSVP on Meetup for each session.
Hope you can join us! Happy writing!
FAQ
- What is a workshop?
We run in a workshop format where you will read your original poem out loud and then the group will provide feedback on your work. For the best feedback, we recommend you have your poem ready to share on screen. If you are unable to share your screen, we may ask for you to read your poem at least twice. - How do I share my screen?
We use Zoom to meet. Depending on your set-up, there are different tips. See this help page from Zoom for your specific questions: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362153-Sharing-your-screen-or-desktop-on-Zoom - How can I be a good workshop participant?
Building trust among the participants is key for a good workshop experience. To build this, we recommend being on-screen and present during the full session. See this article on the "18 rules for being a good workshop participant" from Writers Magazine. https://www.writermag.com/improve-your-writing/writing-education/writing-workshop-participant/.
