This is a fun group of Euchre Players who come together and have a great time playing cards at Diggs Bar and Grill (http://diggsbarandgrill.com/) each Friday evening at 7:00 p.m.!
EUCHRE TOURNAMENT CONCEPT
Play six rounds each evening. Each round ends when one team scores 10 points (or after 20 minutes max time). Teams are changed up after each round. Scoring is individual (each player on the team who scored 10 points has 10 points added to their individual overall total for the evening).
We play standard Euchre and trick bidding to include "stick the dealer".
A card laid is a card played! Once you take your fingers/hand off the card, you've played the card and cannot then pick the card back up into your hand and replace it with a correct suit or a correct trump or etc. If you play the wrong suit or the wrong card, a renege will be called and 2 points will be awarded to the opposing team. You may play a card and keep your hand/finger(s) on the card till you are sure that's the card you wish to play. Again, a card laid is a card played!
$5 entrance fee plus $0.25 euchre fine... all entrance fees and euchre fines are combined to make up prize money for winners. On average, each player ends up spending $6-$7 per evening. A Euchre Player does not have to participate in the $0.25 euchre fine, but cannot collect any prize money if they choose that option.
Loner basket - Each time a Euchre Player goes alone (a loner), they put $1 in the loner basket. If they make the loner, they take possession of the loner basket. Whoever has possession of the loner basket at the end of the evening keeps the loner basket contents! You don't have to pay $1 when going a loner, but you can't take possession of the loner basket unless you pay throughout the evening for each loner attempted at the time the loner was called.
Scores tallied, winners announced, and cash prizes awarded.
Low score gets their $5 entrance fee back.
ALL monies collected for entrance fees and Euchre fines are awarded back to the players.

Final Note: While I am organizing this through meetup.com, the tournament has been going on for a number of years now so please note that many of the attendees will not be "reserving" through the meetup site. The site is intended to spread the word on the existing and fun tournament and not to manage or track attendance... feel free to reserve your attendance on the meetup site, but it's also okay if you just show up on Friday and play.
