Session Abstract:
Sitecore is a powerful Digital Marketing platform, with personalization tools that enable the creation of fully personalized experiences for different audiences. Combined with many headless options, personalized content managed in Sitecore can be distributed on multiple platforms and channels. This presentation shows that Sitecore can be used in brick & click stores, taking advantage of your costumer online behavior, providing fine-tuned personalized experiences in a brick and mortar store.
One of the challenges for a good personalization experience is Contact Identification: how can we identify a certain contact as a returning visitor, so we can provide the best-personalized content? When browsing a website, if the visitor is anonymous Sitecore will identify the contact by using cookies. But if the visitor is using a different browser or a different device for the first time, Sitecore will handle the contact as a new visitor, and thus not provide a good personalization. The other option is to have the user logged in to your website or application. The login process can be facilitated with SSO logins from different platforms but is always quite obstructive. Users will have to authenticate at least once on each platform, which can be prohibitive on physical channels.
Face Recognition will be presented as a much less intrusive way to identify contacts. We will expose the tools available to help (Libraries, Web APIs, techniques) and the challenges from face capturing and previous validations, XConnect operations for contact matching and identification, to the presentation of personalized content to the final user.
During the presentation, we will run of the “Sitecore Book Shelf” demo. Extending IoT principles, a bookshelf with a screen and a camera will be used to identify faces as people get closer. Faces are used to match existing contacts so that personalized suggestions of books can be provided. The user will have as feedbacks the suggestions on the screen and lights from LEDs disposed on the bookshelf. If the contact is known from the website his behavior is taken into consideration to refine the suggestions and give an even better experience. But even when the contact is new, it is still possible to provide suggestions based on face characteristics such as gender, approximated age, and ethnicity.
With Sitecore at the backend, marketers can take advantage of all its marketing tools to manage the IoT device, from traditional rule-based personalization to the newest features such as Horizon and Cortex.
We will be serving Lunch.
