About us

UPDATE: I am not the original organizer of this group, I just stepped up when a new organizer was needed. As a fan of the original group, I am keeping the original group description and mission statement here except for one line that suggested that the group is oriented around a specific age range. I was in no way involved in the frog dissections referenced in the original group description. Feel free to send me suggestions for future events. -ChrisD <br>

Do you like science? Do you like beer? Are you trying to recapture science fair nostalgia? Do you like nerding out with like-minded weirdos?

I'm a non-scientist who loves learning about the world and discussing interesting topics with interesting people. Turns out, though, that most people start to back away slowly the minute you start sharing fascinating facts about the human digestive system.

The plan is to meet to discuss popular science books, maybe with other fun geeky activities thrown into the mix. Anything that keeps the science accessible and fun! I ran a similar group in my old city, and we ended up doing everything from book discussions to frog dissections (you can buy literally anything on Amazon, it turns out!).
