She's just been sold to the circus for about 20 bucks, but she's not complaining. Taking the place of her recently deceased sister in a traveling show lead by the gruff strongman Zampano, the starry-eyed Gelsomina sees her new life on the road as a never-ending adventure full of big personalities, new sights, and the promise of perpetual laughter. But Zampano isn't as idealistic as his new protégé. Will Gelsomina's youthful optimism last in the "real world"? Can everyday life be as much of a magic show as the circus?

An invigorating, soulful story buoyed by a deeply affecting central performance by Giulietta Masina, La Strada is Fellini at his purest - joyous, melancholic, nostalgic, and brimming with the vulnerable glories of the everyday. Let's talk about it!
