The Friend
Details
Hello!
Lisa has kindly offered to take the reins this week as I am unable to make it in time for the film this week. Lisa has been a member for even longer than I have so she knows the drill. We'll be seeing The Friend, which is screening in cinema 12 at 6:25pm. You'll find the group in the meeting spot [read on for details] from 6:15pm.
Cheerio and thank you Lisa!
Dan

Based on the bestselling award-winning novel by Sigrid Nunez, THE FRIEND is a moving ode to friendship, grief, and healing, starring Academy Award nominees Naomi Watts (Birdman, Eastern Promises) and Bill Murray (Lost in Translation), and in his debut role, Bing, a 150-pound Great Dane.
Writer and teacher Iris (Watts) finds her comfortable, solitary New York life thrown into disarray after her closest friend and mentor (Bill Murray) unexpectedly passes away, leaving her his beloved Great Dane, Apollo. The regal yet intractable dog immediately creates practical problems for Iris, from furniture destruction to eviction notices, as well as raising existential issues around her own being. Yet as Iris finds herself unexpectedly bonding with Apollo, she begins to come to terms with her past, and her own creative inner life in this story of healing, love, and friendship.

Everyone will need to buy their own ticket online and in advance. If you want to sit with other group members, there's a tendency for us to pick seats in the back two rows. Those who feel comfortable can catch up in Nova's bar afterward.

We meet in Nova's bar after the movie. Look for us in the area to the left as you go down the steps. Share your thoughts about the film with the group over a drink of your choice.
If the bar is closed we typically head across the road to the Wolf's Lair which is out the back of Jimmy Watson's
