Conversas com Cinema© é uma das várias vertentes de programação da PROSA.
Na PROSA desenvolvemos experiências educativas através do poder transformador das artes visuais e narrativas. E, portanto, o Cinema não poderia ficar de fora!
No Conversas com Cinema© mostramos desde filmes clássicos até lançamentos, mas aqueles que são menos programados ou esquecidos.
A cada duas semanas lançamos um Ciclo novo e, pasmem: quem é membro da PROSA tem sempre entrada gratuita! Já os bilhetes para o público em geral custam sempre 3€ por filme, por pessoa.
Fazemos a exibição dos filmes em pixel iluminado (ecrã QLED 65’’) e em sala condicionada ao máximo de 24 espectadores. Acreditamos que a mensagem escrita com luz não pode falhar na recepção, junto do espectador.
Mas, mais do que mostrar filmes: queremos que este seja um grupo aberto para a comunidade. Naturalmente, após os filmes, tem surgido espontaneamente conversas muito interessantes. A PROSA também está aberta para receber as vossas ideias e sugestões acerca dos filmes que gostariam de ver aqui.
A ideia dos Conversas com Cinema© também passa por empoderar a comunidade através da contemplação e análise de filmes: tanto através da compreensão da mensagem cinematográfica como da reflexão acerca desta narrativa.
Melhor ainda se pudermos ter esta aprendizagem em conta quando temos que tratar dos nossos próprios conflitos humanos!
Vá, vamos abrir o jogo: queremos que o cinema seja uma forma de terapia - "cinema as therapy".

Conversas com Cinema© is one of the various programming aspects of PROSA.
At PROSA, we develop educational experiences through the transformative power of visual and narrative arts. And therefore, Cinema could not be left out!
In Conversas com Cinema© Cinema Screenings at PROSA, we show everything from classic films to new releases, but those that are less scheduled or forgotten.
Every two weeks we launch a new Cycle and, amazingly: anyone who is a member of Prosa always has free entry! Tickets for the general public always cost €3 per film, per person.
We show the films on an illuminated pixel (65’’ QLED screen) and in a room with a maximum of 24 spectators. We believe that a message written with light cannot fail to be received by the viewer.
But, more than showing films: we want this to be an open group for the community. Naturally, after the films, very interesting conversations have arisen spontaneously. PROSA is also open to receiving your ideas and suggestions about the films you would like to see here.
The idea of the PROSA cinema screenings also involves empowering the community through the contemplation and analysis of films: both through understanding the cinematic message and reflecting on this narrative.
Even better if we can take this learning into account when we have to deal with our own human conflicts!
Come on, let's open the game: we want cinema to be a form of therapy - "cinema as therapy".

The starting point is the Netflix documentary series Adolescence — a work that is reshaping how we perceive adolescence in the digital age. Its impact has been so profound that the UK government announced it would screen the series in public schools as a pedagogical tool to address mental health, social media, and young people’s emotional well-being.
This series acts as an urgent mirror, reflecting a generation shaped by algorithms, likes, and invisible anxiety. But this cycle offers a different gesture: to look before all that. Before the selfie, before the feed, before the sanitised language of influencers and healing content. Cinema has always been there, capturing the anguish, rage, and desire of youth.
On Saturday, we close with the emotional storm of Mommy (2014), by Xavier Dolan. A film about a widowed mother and her teenage son with behavioural disorders — and about the visceral, chaotic, violent love that binds them. A film that captivates with its formal beauty and devastates with its emotional rawness. Adolescence here is a whirlwind. And love, an attempt to tame the chaos.

On the eve of the legislative elections, we return with two films that invite critical reflection on the fragility of democracy in the face of mechanisms of narrative manipulation — whether through media or institutional forces.
Democracy is always weakened whenever authoritarian, dictatorial, or autocratic experiments find space to grow. In a world where Trump and Putin shape realities with an iron hand, we should be immersed in a new humanism, one that values freedom, attentive listening, and plurality, with courage and conviction. This cycle is a call toward that path. We should be unanimous in our fight against corruption in all its forms, including those that insinuate themselves vaguely, implicitly, or in seemingly acceptable ways. Any evocation of systems that facilitate or normalize corruption represents an intolerable threat to democratic health.
In this cycle, we affirm that values such as humanism, justice, and an enlightened ethic of knowledge and truth must prevail over the simplistic labels of left, right, or center. In times when the political center sometimes accommodates or bends toward radical paths, it becomes urgent to stand firmly for reason, freedom, and the common good. If in the past television was already an instrument for the construction (and destruction) of narratives, as shown in Network (Sidney Lumet, 1976), today the threat has become broader and more uncontrolled. The spread of disinformation now occurs through digital platforms with fragile regulation, propelled by algorithms, bots, and invisible technologies of manipulation — all at low cost and with enormous impact.

If Network exposes media manipulation as a spectacle for the masses, NO (Pablo Larraín, 2012) delves into a crucial moment where communication becomes a tool for resistance. In Chile, 1988, a bold and creative advertising campaign sought to defeat Pinochet’s dictatorship through a national referendum. The film shows how imagination, language, and a shared hope can disarm fear and pave the way for change. In times of democratic crisis, NO reminds us that creating new narratives — positive, courageous, and inclusive — is one of the greatest acts of political transformation.
Through the selected films, this cycle proposes a reflection on the role of media, advertising, political discourse, and civil society in building a collective awareness capable of resisting false narratives. Cinema remains a powerful tool for thinking the world.
