Can water development and environmental conservation go hand in hand?
The Ken–Betwa River Linking Project is one of India's major water infrastructure initiatives, aimed at transferring water from the Ken River to the Betwa River to address water scarcity and support irrigation and drinking-water needs in parts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
While supporters highlight its potential for irrigation, drinking water, agriculture, and regional development, concerns have also been raised about forests, wildlife, biodiversity, displacement, and long-term ecological sustainability.
Citizen Setu invites students, citizens, environmentalists, farmers, researchers, legal professionals, policymakers, journalists, entrepreneurs, and public policy enthusiasts to join a balanced and informative discussion exploring both sides of this important issue.
